Web Design Melbourne for Small Business — Websites That Bring Clients

I’m a Melbourne-based web designer building hand-crafted websites for small businesses across the city — fast, mobile-first and built to turn visitors into enquiries, not just to look tidy. No template farms, no offshore assembly line, no account managers between you and the person doing the work.

Two ways to pay: from A$199/month with A$0 upfront, or A$2800 as a one-off build. A standard five-page business website goes live in 7 days when you supply your content, images and logo upfront; larger or more custom builds run 2–4 weeks.

Who it’s for

Tradies

Builders, sparkies, plumbers and handymen working across Melbourne’s north and west. Your site loads fast on a phone at a job site, shows your suburbs clearly, and makes calling you one tap.

Clinics & allied health

Physio, dental, podiatry, psychology. Clear service pages, obvious booking paths and a site that reads as trustworthy to someone choosing between three Melbourne clinics on Google.

Cafés & salons

Hospitality and beauty businesses that live on local search and Google Business Profile. Menus, hours, location and bookings where people actually look for them.

Professional services

Accountants, lawyers, consultants and tutors. A site that explains what you do in plain language and gives a serious Melbourne client a reason to send the first email.

What you get

  • Mobile-first custom design — built for your business, not picked from a template gallery
  • Speed and Core Web Vitals — compressed images, lean code, pages that load before people leave
  • Local SEO foundations — Google Business Profile setup, local business schema, proper service pages and metadata
  • Lead capture forms with instant notifications, so an enquiry reaches your phone the moment it lands
  • Hosting, security monitoring and automatic backups handled for you
  • Direct access to the person building your site — no account managers, no ticket queue

How it works

1. Strategy call or written brief

We work out what the site has to achieve, who it has to convince and which services matter most. A twenty-minute call, or a written brief if you’d rather skip the call.

2. Conversion-first design

Layouts are designed around the enquiry, not around decoration — clear offers, obvious next steps, trust signals where people hesitate.

3. Fast build and tracking setup

The site is built, tested on real phones, and wired up with analytics, Google Search Console and form notifications so you can see what’s working from day one.

4. Ongoing improvement

After launch we keep refining — content updates, new service pages, speed and local SEO work — rather than leaving the site to age.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the subscription cost?

The Website-as-a-Service model is A$199/month. It includes a fully custom-designed WordPress or hand-coded website, unlimited edit requests (fair use: up to 5 hours of work per month), hosting, plugin management, backups, security monitoring and performance optimisation. There is no large upfront payment — you never pay thousands of dollars before seeing a result. The subscription starts on the day you sign the agreement and is billed on the 1st of each month. The website is built while you’re already on the plan, which is exactly why the plan is cheap: I carry the build cost and recover it over the term. If you ever want to own the site outright, you can buy it at any time for a one-time Buyout Fee of A$2800.

How long does it take to build?

A standard 5-page business website goes live in 7 days — provided you send your content, images and logo at the start and reply to questions promptly. That’s the normal turnaround, not a special case. If the project is larger or more custom — extra pages, complex functionality, copywriting written from scratch, photography we’re waiting on — the timeline stretches to 2–4 weeks. The single biggest factor is how quickly your material arrives, so the sooner you send it, the sooner you’re live.

Is SEO included in your packages?

Yes and no. SEO has two main components: on-page and off-page. On-page SEO involves elements directly on your site, such as content quality, load speed, accessibility and layout. Off-page SEO covers external factors like link building, guest posts and citations. The packages include on-page SEO essentials — fast load times, accessibility features, meta tags, Google Search Console setup, sitemap creation and some content optimisation. Effective SEO beyond that requires an ongoing strategy, handled with an SEO partner outside the standard website packages. If you’re interested in professional SEO, just ask.

What’s the main difference between a one-time payment and a subscription?

The key difference is short-term versus long-term cost. With a subscription you pay more in total over time, but it’s broken into manageable monthly payments. A one-time payment covers the entire cost upfront and saves you money in the long run, since design and development are paid for from the start. Keep in mind that ongoing support and edits are not included in the one-time price: they’re a separate Unlimited Edits & Support add-on of A$170/month with a 12-month minimum commitment, and hosting is a further A$30/month if you want it. Choose based on your cash flow and whether short-term or long-term goals matter more.

Can I buy out my website after 12 months of subscription?

Yes. You can buy out the website at any time for a one-time payment of A$2800. That gives you full ownership, along with all the files, code and credentials, so you can move to another host or company.

If I cancel a subscription, do I keep my domain?

If you cancel your subscription you retain ownership of your domain, as long as it was registered in your name. Any domains registered through us may need to be transferred to your own registrar account if you want to keep them after cancellation.
